Emergency Fund Raiser

URGENT!!!
Hello friends and family! We are in a very difficult position right now and we need everyone's support at this very second. This past Saturday evening, the team found out that our sponsor would no longer be able to purchase our airfare. This news was shocking, disappointing, and discouraging. Never the less, we have all decided to stay true to the purpose and in turn have launched a major emergency fund raiser. Our goal was to raise $15,000 in 3 days. I am happy to say that it is Day 2 and now our goal is $10,000!!

So lets' keep up the momentum and spread the word. If you cannot give a financial gift, we ask that you constantly remember us in your prayers.  We need every type of support!

If you are financially able to give please go to our SUPPORT page and click on the donate button.

I would like to send a special thank you to my mother Leonora Feldman, who is working the phones and emails and bringing in the cash flow, and to my sister and the other nurses at Brookdale, you ladies are the beez neez! Thank you for hearing another sister cry and turning it into laughter. Oh and thanks for that $$ too!

I Love yall!
Candace

Purpose
The purpose of Project MaP is to encourage and increase already instilled artistic talents within the students of Maru-a-Pula and members of the community of Gaborone, Botswana. Moreover, we strive to deliver new forms of art, and to demonstrate to the students and community that there is opportunity for life, progress and success through the performing arts for any persons, not based on racial, economic or social background. As part of the Black Student Union Initiative we strive to be ambassadors for the arts and beacons for social justice.

Objective
The members of the Project MaP 2011 Team will participate in a community service effort with the Mmanoko Primary School. There, they will continue to work on the community garden, created in 2010, engage the students with interactive/educational games, and also help structure the school’s library that was built in 2010.  Daily, the Juilliard teaching artist will disperse into their respective divisions and teach a two hour master class, followed by a two hour rehearsal session in preparation for the Tapestry Performance at the Maitisong Theater on June 17th & 18th. Each division will have its own lesson plan, which will be taught to the students of MaP.
